Book Updates

Hey Bookoholic’s! Welcome back and get ready for some interesting updates in the book world!

Darkest Minds

For those of you who have read The Darkest Minds I know we must all share a similar interest in seeing the characters and the world brought to life on the big screen. If you’re subscribed to Alexandra Bracken’s email updates I’m sure you’ve heard some of what’s going on. If you’re completely new to the series or are just interested in some future movie releases, that’s just as well.

The Movie is currently in the process of being filmed as of April 3rd and is being directed by one Jennifer Yuh Nelson. She’s also the director for Kung Fu Panda 2 and Kung Fu Panda 3. I’m interested to see how she adapts the film to the screen. Fingers crossed it’s good!

Alexandra claims that the filming will be done in June and released sometime in 2018. The official release date has yet to be announced but hopefully it’ll be soon! I’m excited to see the trailer.

Chad

The script writer for the TDM film is Chad Hodge who I personally have never heard of before. He’s the creator of the FOX T.V. series Wayward Pines which is a series I haven’t seen but am intrigued to look more into now.

Something that really surprised me about this whole movie adaption is that Amandla Stenberg will be playing our main heroine Ruby. Whenever I read the books I imagine Ruby looking different but I’m excited to see how Amandla does, especially since she’s starting to become an up and rising actress. I loved her in The Hunger Games as Rue and I’m curious as to how she did in Everything, Everything. If you’re in who the rest of the cast is check out the IMBD page! I think that Zu was chosen perfectly!

On to the next topic that I’m sure I’m not the only one dying to hear about, The Death Cure movie adaption! So, ever since Dylan O’Brien (Thomas in the Maze Runner movies) was injured on set back in March the filming for the final movie in the trilogy has been postponed. The original release date was set for February 17 of 2017 but FOX pushed it back to January 12 of 2018 so we’ve got quite a few months until we get to see our favorite characters back in action.

As we know, the second film The Scorch Trials ended on quite the cliff hanger and in a very different way than in the book. As a reader I’m disappointed at the huge change but, as a viewer, I’m intrigued as to what Wes Ball has in store for the last film. If you haven’t read the trilogy get off of here and quickly go read them! It’s a super good series! The beginning of the first book is kind of slow but push past it and I know you’ll get hooked! Likewise, if you haven’t watched the movies, which I kind of find hard to believe, get off of here and start binging!

Rounding off this update for the week is Emily Barr the author of The One Memory of Flora Banks one of the most anticipated books of 2017! It’s out, it’s here, and I am craving so hard to be able to get my hands on a copy. The book came out at the beginning of May on the 2nd. If you haven’t heard anything about it yet then let me fill you in.

The One Memory of Flora Banks is a book revolving around Flora a seventeen-year-old girl who has absolutely no short term memory. This means she basically can’t remember anything. Her mind resets several times a day. However, something strange happens. Flora ends up kissing her best friend’s boyfriend, oh man already a major plot element right here, and it’s the one things she manages to remember. Better yet, this boyfriend, Drake, reaches out to Flora later on to meet up! I can already tell there’s going to be some problems between her and her friend. The book is 304 pages long which is a pretty good length for a novel. As far as I know this is a standalone book and there won’t be a prequel or a sequel.

There are two different covers for the book. One is a white background with the title in blue and a kind of mist around the words which I think looks really cool and mysterious. It’s almost like they’re capturing the inside of Flora’s mind. The second cover is a blue background and the title written on a piece of paper that’s ripped in certain parts which is also interesting and captures the overall feel of the book pretty well since it’s like the ripped pieces of paper are Flora’s memories.

I’ve never read a book by Emily Barr before but I’m looking forward to reading this one so look forward to the review when I finally get my hands on a copy!

Well, that’s it for now Bookoholic’s! Tell me what you think of these little updates and if you’re interested in hearing more. If you have any suggestions or have something you’d like me to talk about send me a message under my Contact page and I’ll look into it!
