Book Updates: Lore Cover Reveal

We’re back for a new book update of the month, and today we’re focusing on Alexandra Bracken’s newest novel, Lore.

Alexandra Bracken is a wordsmith with crafting intriguing stories that lure the reader in from the very first chapter. I discovered her books via The Darkest Minds series; from there, I became a captive of her writing style.

Side Note: Passenger is on my July 2020 reading list, and I’m so excited to revisit the world.

Yesterday marked the official cover release for her newest novel, Lore. Can we take a moment to appreciate how stunning it is? The pristine white gives the splashes of color in the title and the MC’s eye a chance to shine, drawing the reader in. Not to mention we have key distinguishing aspects telling us just what lore we’re dealing with in the book, thanks to the telltale snakes. Each snake seems to be in a distinct mood, some of them languid, while others are looking rather vicious, possibly alluding to the battles the characters may face throughout. For those of you who have yet to read the little blurb about it, you can find the details of the book below.

Every seven years, the Agon begins. As punishment for a past rebellion, nine Greek gods are forced to walk the earth as mortals, hunted by the descendants of ancient bloodlines, all eager to kill a god and seize their divine power and immortality.

Long ago, Lore Perseous fled that brutal world in the wake of her family’s sadistic murder by a rival line, turning her back on the hunt’s promises of eternal glory. For years she’s pushed away any thought of revenge against the man—now a god—responsible for their deaths.

Yet as the next hunt dawns over New York City, two participants seek out her help: Castor, a childhood friend Lore believed long dead, and a gravely wounded Athena, among the last of the original gods.

The goddess offers an alliance against their mutual enemy and, at last, a way for Lore to leave the Agon behind forever. But Lore’s decision to bind her fate to Athena’s and rejoin the hunt will come at a deadly cost—and still may not be enough to stop the rise of a new god with the power to bring humanity to its knees.

From the #1 New York Times best-selling author of The Darkest Minds comes a sweepingly ambitious, high-octane tale of power, destiny, love, and redemption.

I’m an absolute sucker for mythology and religion. The unique aspects and beliefs around the world are fascinating to learn about; in fact, it’s this play with religion that made the book Tiger’s Curse all the more intriguing. I can say the same for Houck’s Reawakened series, so upon learning of Bracken’s newest series dealing with Greek mythology, I jumped at the chance to learn all I could for the standalone novel. If you don’t have any background information on Greek lore, don’t be too worried as she states you don’t need any, though it may make the story more interesting.

As the novel, unfortunately, won’t hit shelves until January 5, 2021, you have plenty of time to stuff your brains chock full of all things pertaining to Greece. If only our fates could bring the book to us sooner, right? That doesn’t mean you can’t pre-order the novel to get it as soon as it comes out, though, which is exactly what I’ve done! There’s also whispering of possible pre-order perks, so if you do, be sure to keep your receipt for when news of that comes out. If you’ve yet to pre-order the book, but would like to, you can find it on Amazon. If you’re interested in learning more about Alexandra Bracken, check out her author page. That’s all for this book updates. Until next time!

All the best.
